Use iTunes to Create Personalized iPhone Ringtones

We know that though there are a lot of built-in ringtones in iPhone, still many apple fans wonder how to create some personalized ringtones for their own phone. Some apple fans reflected that iPhone can optionally change ringtones only after jailbreaking their devices. However, such saying is not true. In fact, you can use iTunes to create ringtone and upload to device without jailbreaking your iPhone.

Now, let’s review the method of using iTunes to create personalized ringtones.

Firstly, run iTunes on computer, go to “File”, and click “Add Files to Library”, then add the music you want as your ringtone in pop-up window.
Secondly, you can see the music file has been added in your playlist. Right-click the song and click “Get Info”.

Thirdly, click “Options” in pop-up window, then enter the start and stop time of the song in the corresponding boxes. Click “OK”. (Make sure the duration of the song is 30 seconds.)

Fourthly, right-click on the song again, choose “Create AAC Version”.
Fifthly, after finishing ACC version, there will be a new file in same name of the song you want to create as a ringtone at music library, but it is the short time version you just set. Now right-click the short time version song, select “Show in Windows Explorer”. Then change the file’s suffix from “m4a”to “m4r”. Then double click the song, which will be added to iTunes’s library automatically.

Sixthly, connect the iPhone to the computer, locate your iPhone and click “Tones” at the left side bar, then tick ”Sync Tones” and click “apply” at the bottom to synchronize ringtones.

Note: You may see the pop-up window as follow. To avoid erase all your data, you should sync carefully or choose the way I introduce at the end of the article.

Finally, on your iPhone, go to "Settings" > “Sounds” > “Ringtone”, you can find your customized tones, which you can set it as you’re your ringtone.

Apart from iTunes, you can also use some iPhone manager. The process of creating ringtones is easier.
